Mineral deficiency prevention
Hi,
I haven't had our soil tested (is it worth it?) but I know that we are defficient in selenium generally in this clay-rich area. Does anyone know if a garlic salt lick is ok to prevent selenium defficiency? It is Rockies Equine Range and says 15 mg/kg on the ingredients. Is this 15mg selenium per kg lick? Is it ok? The llamas seem like it. (I use the garlic one to keep off biting insects in the summer).
The box says not to give to sheep because of it having copper in it. Is that ok for llamas?
Thanks for any thoughts.
Caroline
