Birthing & Young cria workshop
This is a veterinarian-led one-day workshop with a combination of theory and practical sessions to be held at Meon Valley Alpacas, Grooms Cottage & Stables, Midlington Hill, Droxford, Hampshire, SO32 3PU. Starting at 10am and finishing at around 4pm.
The following elements will be covered:
Care of the dam in the last couple of months of pregnancy
Signs of birth and the birthing process
Assisting at birth
With opportunity to put the theory into practice using dummies and stillborn lambs
Crias first hour, incl. resuscitation, basic checks, navel care
Post-birthing check of the dam
Crias first days, incl. disease, development, colostrum uptake
Recognising birthing defects and what they mean
Practical techniques for nursing, incl. stomach tubing
Checklist and Action Cascade: when to call the Vet
What should be in my Cria Kit?
The tutors will be Karin Mueller (MRCVS), with contribution from Karen Oglesby
The Costs is £ 95.00 includes course notes and practical sessions, drinks available throughout the day, but bring your own lunch. Any additional participants from the same farm pay only £ 80.00 that is a discount of over 15%! There will be a maximum of 15 places.
Payment in advance, please, by cheque made out to P&K Mueller.
