Sleeping llamas
I have been having discussions with a llama-owning friend recently about how llamas sleep. I was surprised to hear that hers sleep with their necks stretched out and chins down. I was sure that mine slept kushed with necks upright. The other night I slept in our caravan in the llama field and checked four times during the night. I saw my alpaca chin-down on more than one occasion, but my seven llamas were neck-vertical. Have I got strange llamas?!

Re: Sleeping llamas
Hi Terry
Ours sleep necks on the ground stretched out in front of them, chin down. Maybe they just copy each other and yours just all do what the others do !

Re: Sleeping llamas
Ours sleep in 2 different positions. The main position is cushed with the necks stretched out and the second (only during the day) is on their sides and with the neck stretched out but with the mouth pointed skywards. Hope this helps.
