Saturday 20th June - Members Day
On Saturday 20th June, the Annual BLS Members Day will be hosted by Robert Dewer and Amanda Huntley of Golden Valley Llamas at Old King Street Farm, Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire HR2 0HB. (Tel. 01981 240208)
The proposed order of the day is as follows :
10.00am Arrival - Tea & coffee, biscuits will be served.
10.30am - 1.00pm - workshops :
4 x 35 minute workshops - members will be divided into groups to work around the workshops
1.Ways to promote your llama products - Caroline Pembro
2.Basic llama handling (to include haltering, grooming, walking, trailer loading, training young llamas) - Robert and Amanda
3.Toe clipping - Julie Taylor-Browne
4.Hand shearing - Annie Austen
Each workshop will comprise of a 25 minute talk and display, 10 min Q&A, and 5 mins allowance to move to next workshop.
Members repeatedly tell us they don’t feel confident handling their llamas, so a back-to-basics handling session is proposed.
Members are often concerned about toe clipping and shearing of llamas.
1.00pm - 2.00pm Lunch
2.00pm - 3.00pm - (If available) Amanda and Robert's vet, will do a 30 min talk on 'calmer castration' followed by an open Q&A
3.00pm - weather permitting llama agility for everyone to have a go, hints on how to train your llama to win at the Newbury show in September!
Evening - Chinese Banquet at local pub approx £20pp
B&B is available at Old King Street Farm at £30 per couple/twin room
There are two cottages available for rent, one bedroom & two bedroom - Amanda & Robert are at present holding these open for us but we will have to let them know in the next few weeks if we wish to use them.

Camping - there is plenty of space for camping and a small charge will be made for breakfast/facililties/shower etc
